This BARK is all bite (photos)

There is no one named Blackie in Blackie and the Rodeo Kings (BARK).

Nor are there any Rodeo Kings for that matter.

What BARK does have is three multi-award winning, talented to the teeth, extremely sharp dressed Canadian roots music icons.

Stephen Fearing, Colin Linden and Tom Wilson.

Collectively the trio has amassed approximately 30 recordings, five of which are BARK releases.

Presented by Beyond Borders and Loplops Gallery-Lounge, they showcased their artistry and irresistible charisma at the Best Western Monday night to an excited and adoring audience.

Three suits, three guitars and three voices.

That's all it took to captivate, charm, move and amuse anyone within earshot as the divine harmonies, punctuated by Wilson's resonating baritone, filled the room.

Celebrating the release of Let's Frolic Again, the night's performance featured selections from their vast repertoire, including Better Off Alive, Let's Frolic, 49 Tons, Remedy and Lovin' Cup.

Stepping out of the spotlight and down to the audience mid-way through the evening to perform Acadian Driftwood and Driftin' Snow nestled the crowd into the sparkly lapels of those dapper men and made everyone feel at home.

After almost two solid hours of brilliant music, two encores, a promise they would return soon, amusing stage banter about sex, drugs and rock n' roll, and plenty of dancing, BARK got swarmed at the merch table for conversation and autographs.

Kudos to local blues/funk masters, Big Wheel and the Spokes for motivating Stephen Fearing to emerge from the change room to listen, groove to and applaud their opening performance.

Yes, BARK made fans and friends that night and hopefully the wait for their return will be a short one.

Did I mention how sharp they looked?
