How the Anodos Kathodos EP came to be
While working towards a full band / full album, The Soles experimented on the side with electronic rock versions of some of those new songs.
Realizing they were very good in their own right, the group decided to release these alternative versions of songs, before the album comes out!
The band felt that this out-of-the-box decision would provide a fun and different way to generate excitement – instead of how artists usually release alternative mixes after the album release.
Thematically, they take their concept from the well-known mythological Hero’s Journey construct made famous by scholar Joseph Campbell.
The EP starts with what Campbell called the hero’s universal Call to Adventure (track 1 Rebel Force Radio) and takes the listener on a journey through war (track 2 F35) and back.
Anodos Kathodos is generating radio play on college radio stations across Canada, including: Windsor (CJAM), Sudbury (CKLU), Winnipeg (CJUM), Edmonton (CKUA) Toronto (CIUT) and Kamloops (CFBX) as well as some satellite radio in Canada and the US.
