The last time Sloan played Sault Ste. Marie, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States.
On that night, Nov. 8, 2016, frontman Chris Murphy told the audience after hearing the election results, "We're gonna keep playing while the ship sinks.”
Tonight at the Grand Theatre, he brought that show up. "Don't worry. Tomorrow he'll be impeached," Murphy announced to a rousing round of applause.
The Toronto-based quartet is currently on tour in support of its 12th studio release, aptly named 12. The 12-track record was recently announced as one of 40 Canadian releases that made th Polaris Music Prize long list.
Other Ontario dates on the Sloan 12 tour include Timmins on Wednesday for the Stars and Thunder Festival, followed by Ottawa, Kingston, Oshawa and Waterloo.
