NEWS RELEASE

SOO ZOMBIE WALK

*************************
There are rising reports of Saultites succumbing to a strange infection. Side effects may include a hunger for brains, slow, unbalanced movement, and a sudden urge to groan... A group of resistance fighters, recruited by Stryker Corporation, will seek to fend off the undead hordes another year.

Meanwhile, Soo Zombie Walk organizers hope to spread the infectious plight among any humans who dare to visit the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Whether you've accepted your fate or seek to fight against it, the Soo Zombie Walk returns for its ninth year on Saturday, Oct. 21. The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre will open its doors to the shambling undead and resistance fighters at 4 p.m. for two hours of live music, face painting, vendors, food, games, photo booths, contests and prizes.

Participants are encouraged to dress up as either zombies or Stryker Corporation members (the resistance/zombie hunters) and secret judges will be on the lookout for creative costumes! At 6 p.m. sharp, the undead masses take to the streets. The undead will lurch from the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre along Bay Street towards Clergue Park, where Stryker Corporation will try to fend off the zombie herd. The walk will continue up Brock Street and onto Queen Street where participants will partake in live music and photo ops at Pita Pit which will have their front courtyard all decorated up for the walk.

Closing ceremonies will then follow back at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre where prizes for best costumes will be awarded, and an after party will take place back at Pita Pit with live music, treats and free small pitas for all those that sign up for their More! customer loyalty program. And the admission to participate in this ghoulish festival? $3 and a canned good to donate to the Soup Kitchen Community Centre for those 16 and over, children 5-15 will be $1 and a canned good while children under 5 can enjoy the event for free but are encouraged to donate a canned good.
