Singer-songwriter Sylvia Tyson performed at the Sault Community Theatre on Friday evening, kicking off the first performance of Algoma Fall Festival.
Besides her acoustic guitar, Tyson also played her 'new baby' — an accordion she calls 'Mr. Hibbs' because it at one time was owned by Newfoundland accordia player Harry Hibbs.
The festival is put on by the Algoma Arts Festival Association and is an annual 'multi-disciplinary arts celebration' that runs throughout October at venues around Sault Ste. Marie.
Some of the highlights includes a photography exhibition by Roberta Bondar, a musical performance by Syrena Ryder, and a 'poignant' performance by comedian Robin Duke.
