SOO FILM FESTIVAL

Soo Film Festival is set to return to downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Sept. 15-19 for its 2021 edition. Films will screen at the historic Soo Theatre and Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library. Due to the ongoing health crisis dates and venues are subject to change.
Festival President Jason Markstrom: “This has certainly been a trying year for most of us. We look forward to coming together to celebrate the cinema and strength of the Great Lakes and beyond.”
An open call for entries begins March 8. Documentary and all genres of fiction, feature and shorts, will be accepted online exclusively through FilmFreeway. The festival committee has set a no-fee early bird deadline of April 4. The regular deadline is May 16 and requires a $15 entry fee. Late entries must be submitted by May 31 with an entry fee of $20. The selected films will be announced the week of July 19. Filmmakers will find complete details on the Submit a Film section of the festival’s website.
Soo Film Festival 2021 is open to filmmakers worldwide but will continue to emphasize and showcase work from the Great Lakes region.
The 2021 Soo Film Festival organizing committee is Jason Markstrom, Allison Youngs, Mark Dobias, Pat Egan, and Susan James.
