Korah Collegiate screening Painted Land film 7-9 p.m. Thursday, June 2 in Korah Auditorium in support of Relay for Life

I am very excited to be involved with Korah students organizing the 5th Annual Relay for Life.

As part of this event, the award-winning 2015 film Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven is being shown on Thursday, June 2 from 7-9 p.m. in the Korah Auditorium.

The film will be introduced by Joanie and Gary McGuffin.

A question and answer period with them will follow the film and intermission.

During the intermission, information will be provided on the Relay for Life event, along with luminary sales, baking and refreshments for purchase.

Admission is by monetary donation to Korah's Relay for Life and is open to everyone in the community who would like to see this wonderful documentary featuring our magnificent Algoma landscape.

By path, paddle and train, local art historian Michael Burtch and the conservation photographer-author team of Gary and Joanie McGuffin take us on a journey to discover Canada’s most famous artists and the landscapes immortalized in their internationally renowned works of art.

About Korah Relay for Life

Korah Collegiate is hosting its Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

It is a celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer.

The event will be held on the school track from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and will include many events such as an open air concert, and contests between teams.

Korah’s Relay for Life event involves students and staff at Korah.

This year we have approximately 150 participants and 50 volunteers who will be involved in this overnight non-competitive relay.

Teams consist of students, teachers and staff, and cancer survivors.

The money raised by participants collecting pledges helps the Canadian Cancer Society.

The event this year will include the Opening Ceremony and Survivors’ Victory Lap.

An inspiring Luminary Ceremony occurs shortly after dusk and honours loved ones who have either survived cancer, are currently battling cancer, or have succumbed to the disease.

Korah has raised $30,000 towards the Relay for Life Campaign since its first Relay in 2011.
