Pridefest celebrates halfway point with Stride & Ride

‘The Sault is clearly hungry for more community action and activities, and we’ve been very excited to give it to them,’ says Sault Pride chair Amanda Zuke, who is thrilled with the city’s response to Pridefest this summer

The Sault’s 10th annual Pridefest reached the halfway point of its two-week-long festivities this morning as locals gathered at Clergue Park for this year’s Pride Stride & Ride.

Weather conditions were near perfect for the participants who enjoyed a 5 km walk, run, or bike along the waterfront and boardwalk.

Following the free event, attendees headed over to the Holiday Inn Express for a Cooldown Coffeehouse hosted by Claire Mitchell from the Afternoon Trans Coffee Support Group.

Coming off a successful Friday evening dance party aboard the Miss Marie cruise, Sault Pride chair Amanda Zuke says she couldn’t be happier with how Pridefest is playing out this summer.

“The energy has been fantastic,” she says. “I’m thrilled with the turnouts and the interest we’ve been getting. The Sault is clearly hungry for more community action and activities, and we’ve been very excited to give it to them.”

“We’re hoping to keep getting more refined in what we’re offering the community year after year, and I think it’s gotten bigger and better.”

Pridefest will continue this afternoon with Goat Yoga and Horse Wellness in Echo Bay.
