Applications are now being accepted for the work of six visual artists to be displayed as part of the Paul Mall Alley Project.

The displays at 642 Queen St. East provide an opportunity for local and regional artists to have an ongoing public space to display and promote their artwork, a news release says.

Artists are invited to submit one portfolio piece to be digitally reproduced and displayed along with the artist’s biography, contact, website, and social media details in the display units, the release said. Artists working in a broad range of two-dimensional or shallow relief media, including painters, photographers, collage artists, mosaic and graffiti artists are encouraged to participate.

Artists must be able to provide digital copies of their chosen artwork meeting the specifications listed in the Call for Artists guidelines. All artworks will be reviewed, and selections will be made by a project selection group. Selected artists will receive an artist’s fee of $600 for a 12-month display period. If an extended showing is possible, artists will receive an additional $50 for each additional month that the artwork is on display.

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 25 at 4:30 p.m. If you are interested in participating, the application is available on the city’s website. For more information, contact Aliesha Moore, Arts and Culture Lead at 705-989-8240 or by email.
