Open auditions will be held this Saturday, Oct. 16 for Algoma Repertory Theatre’s holiday production of A Christmas Story.

Based on the classic 1983 movie written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark, this show includes many of your favourite movie moments!

A humorous memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s, the show follows nine-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself at Higbee's Department Store. The consistent response: "You'll shoot your eye out!"

This show is sure to please the biggest movie fans, complete with a temperamental exploding furnace; pink bunny pajamas; a school bully; a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; a leg lamp; elaborate fantasy scenarios and more. A Christmas Story will hit the stage at the Sault Community Theatre Centre (at White Pines) from Dec. 16-19, 2021.

While the show primarily features a group of young people, only actors over 12 years of age will be considered. All actors must be fully vaccinated, or willing to be fully vaccinated, by Oct. 31st to begin formal rehearsals. For full casting information, visit here.

All auditions will be held Saturday in the Old Union Hall (68 Dennis St. - side door). Young people (aged 12-17) can attend anytime between 12-2 p.m., and adults (18+) are welcomed between 2:30-4:30 p.m. Selections of script will be provided to read.
