NEWS RELEASE

NEW NORTH GREENHOUSES

************************
New North Greenhouses invites you to their event, HELLO SPRING: A Celebration of the Local Gardening Community on Saturday, Apr. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 719 Airport Road.

We have partnered with the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society to raise funds for local community gardens. One dollar from each bag of soil, compost and mulch sold will be donated to local community gardens.

As well, donations will be accepted at the Horticultural Society table. For every dollar raised, New North will match it with a donation from our own Green Initiatives Fund. This fund is set up to support local gardening and environmental projects.

Join us as we welcome vendors from the Algoma Farmers Market, the Johnson Farmers Market Jardin Farms and the Country Way.

Food and refreshments can be purchased from Shabby Motley and Cordelia Plant-Based Meals. Enjoy the lively music of Roman Peredun. He is always a crowd pleaser for both kids and adults!

Visit displays set up by the Forest Heights Community Garden, the Canal District Community Gardens and Mill Market, Clean North, the Sault Ste. Marie Horticultural Society, Algoma Master Gardeners and the Ermatinger Clergue National Historical Site.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children as Sandra Hodge from 'Sandra Hodge Clay and Educational Art Studio' will present the fun hands-on activity, Clay It Forward. The Art Gallery of Algoma will have a children's art activity and New North staff will be there to help kids decorate a pot and plant a pansy to take home.

As a bonus, Clean North will have their worm composting bins there for kids to get their hands into! Plus new this year: Perfectly Painted Faces will be on hand from 11-2 and proceeds from face painted will be donated to local community gardens.

No matter what the weather is like outside, welcome spring with the gardening experts of New North Greenhouses, celebrating our 25th anniversary of growing locally!
