NEWS RELEASE
STUDIO DANCE ARTS
*************************
This coming weekend is a very special one for the Sault’s Studio Dance Arts, as it celebrates 15 years of excellence in dance education. Since opening its doors downtown in 2003, the studio has flourished and grown into a school that provides high quality, award winning recreational and competitive programs for eager students from preschool through high school levels.
It was founded by Saultite Richard Kim, after he retired from a 10 year+ professional dance career in Los Angeles, where he worked with such artists as Michael Jackson, Gloria Estefan, Reba McEntire, Toni Braxton on world concert tours, television, film and commercials, to name a few. “When I first opened the studio, we started in a small space on Queen Street with two small dance rooms and a staff of about 4-5 employees.
Fifteen years later, we’re still in the same location, but have expanded to four dance rooms, an in-house dancewear store and over 25 employees on payroll,” says founder/executive director Richard Kim. In addition to the Sault Ste. Marie location, Studio Dance Arts now also has locations in Elliot Lake and Marquette, Michigan. The school’s total enrollment is over 500 students, between all locations.
“The multiple studio locations literally sort of presented themselves over the years and are only possible due to the extraordinary studio directors that are in place at each location. SDA Sault Ste. Marie has Tania Castellani-Greco, SDA Elliot Lake has Christine Brunet and SDA Marquette has Ashley Tremblay. They, along with our amazing team of teachers, choreographers and administrators really do an outstanding job with the development of each school. These delegated roles allow me the time to micromanage and oversee the big picture.”
This weekend marks Studio Dance Arts 15th anniversary with year end shows at the Sault Community Theatre Centre. In Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, June 16 with 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. shows, SDA will feature Recreational and Competitive students. Sunday, June 17 is a special 15th Gala Performance at 2 p.m.
To celebrate this milestone, SDA Elliot Lake and SDA Marquette will be joining the show and performing alongside SDA Sault Ste. Marie. As well, over 25 Alumni will be putting on their “dancing shoes” again and making a very special appearance. Following the show is the15th Gala Banquet at the Marconi Club.
SDA Live 2018 will be hosted by Studio Dance Arts long time show MC and friend Timothy Murphy. Tickets are currently on sale at the Station Mall Box office. For more information about show tickets or summer & fall registration, please visit their website at www.studiodancearts.com.
