Moonlight Magic kicks off holiday season this Thursday

To kick off the holiday season, the City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Downtown Association will host the annual Moonlight Magic and Christmas tree lighting event this Thursday.

Festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. in front of the courthouse with the tree lighting at 7 p.m.

Downtown merchants will be open until 11 p.m. and donations will be collected for the Sault Transit Stuff-A-Bus supporting Christmas Cheer.

Mr. Bon Soo and Santa Claus will also make appearances.

Celebrate the start of the holiday season in Sault Ste. Marie at Downtown Association’s Moonlight Magic event and the lighting of the community tree. Join Mayor Shoemaker and the Downtown Association on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in front of the courthouse.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Korah’s Mustang Sally and Soo Sings Holiday Glee will entertain the audience. The community tree will light up at 7 p.m. with the arrival of Santa and Mr. Bon Soo. Visit the plaza for holiday lights, games and entertainment on the Village Stage and explore late night offerings at the Soo Market.

Downtown merchants will be open until 11 p.m. for late night shopping and deals. In the spirit of the season, guests are encouraged to bring donations for the Sault Transit Stuff-A-Bus supporting Christmas Cheer.

Parking is available at the GFL Memorial Gardens, King Street/Albert Street lot and Spring Street/March Street lot. Queen Street from Pim Street to Dennis Street will be closed to motorists on Thursday, Nov. 14 starting at 3 p.m. for the event. However, crossroads heading north and south will remain accessible.
