Moneen fans crush photographer (20 photos)

"What happened to the hall?" asked Moneen singer, Kenny Bridges at Glow's Sunday night all-ages show. Yes, they've played the Sault before and the hall he referred to was the Oddfellows Hall.
"What happened to the hall?" asked Moneen singer, Kenny Bridges at Glow's Sunday night all-ages show.

Yes, they've played the Sault before and the hall he referred to was the Oddfellows Hall.

"Remember the Hall? It never had a light-up dance floor," he continued.

An impressively large and diverse crowd showed up for this last stop on their Canadian tour.

From the band's first warm-up notes, the frenzied crowd pushed, thrashed, slammed and moshed, singing along with virtually every emo/rock word.

Although making photography near impossible as I narrowly escaped injury, their absolute dedication to Moneen was almost awe-inspiring.

The crazed action on the dance floor was mirrored by the band as they thrashed all dreadlocks, instruments and limbs on stage, pausing only to express their appreciation.

Every band should be so lucky to have fans as devoted.

Moneen is currently the Maple Music Staff Pick of the Week, was a part of the Warped Tour in 2006, is featured in an Alexisonfire video and has appeared regularly on Much Music both in interview and music video form.

Definitely expect to hear more from this Toronto band.

Also sharing the bill that night was Welland-based punk rock band Attack in Black.

I had caught wind of this relatively young band from various sources all saying this would be the one to, once again, redefine the Canadian indie music scene.

Being dubbed Alexisonfire's new favourite band and having shared the stage with the likes of Propagandhi, Cancer Bats and Death by Stereo, Attack in Black is well on it's way to doing just that.

Their straight up rock sound, firm musicianship and sharp lyrics revealed a band wise beyond it's years and quickly won over the throng of onlookers.

As always, both the Crossed and Stay 17 pitched two brilliant and tireless opening sets living up to their well earned and ever-growing local notoriety.

All in all, it was an exhausting yet gratifying evening of extreme music and mayhem.

Making it all that much better was my discovery that I was not, for once, the oldest person in attendance.

What's next?
