Shaggypup Productions, the exclusive Canadian producers of 'Menopause The Musical', is bringing their smash hit back to Sault Ste. Marie Community Theatre, Saturday, Oct. 15, for the first time since 2019.

“It’s long overdue and especially now, as we’ve emerged from the Pandemic, it’s high time to enjoy a hilarious night out at the Theatre,” said Mark Zimmerman, co-producer of the show.

“'Menopause The Musical' is a worldwide phenomenon because it’s so brilliantly funny, but at its core, it’s really about female empowerment,” he said.

The show illustrates through comedy and 27 hit songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s, that underneath the layers, women are quite similar, especially when dealing with this 'change of life' and there’s a need to embrace it and each other, in 'one giant sisterhood'.

Since its debut in 2005, 'Menopause The Musical' has evolved into a "grassroots movement” for women, dealing with life’s adjustments like the aging process, especially after 40. This laugh-filled 90-minute production, gets audiences out of their seats, cheering, dancing and singing along, to chart topping hits that feature new tongue in cheek, brilliant and funny lyrics.

'Menopause The Musical', now in its seventeenth year of production, is recognized as the longest-running “scripted musical, comedy production” ever to continuously play Las Vegas. The original Off-Broadway musical comedy is set in a department store, where four women meet by chance while shopping for a black lace bra. After noticing unmistakable similarities with one another, the female, all-star Canadian cast, jokes about their woeful hot flashes, mood swings, wrinkles, weight gain, memory loss, too much sex, not enough sex and more. These four women form a sisterhood and a special bond with audiences as they rejoice in celebrating that menopause is not 'The Silent Passage' anymore!

Show: Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sault Ste. Marie Community Theatre. Tickets $54 and $64 (HST inclusive).
