Mascot vs mascot at the Sault College Pow Wow (21 photos)

The dance off has become somewhat of a tradition

While Corby the Cougar – Sault College’s official mascot – had a fine looking regalia, Mr. Bon Soo busted out some pretty sweet moves Saturday afternoon as the pair engaged in a dance off during the annual Sault College Pow Wow.

When it was time to choose a winner by applause, it was decided the two would share the honour. But not before they were swarmed by adoring pint-sized fans. And some not so pint-sized.

Hosted by the Native Student Council in partnership with Sault College and Indigenous Studies, this is the second year the annual celebration of music and culture has been part of the Bon Soo winter carnival. The two-day event includes a variety of vendors and a healthy dose of delicious food.

The Sault College Pow Wow, themed ‘Love and Unity’, continues Sunday at the Health and Wellness Centre with the grand entry at noon. Host drum is Bear Creek, co-host is Obadjiwon Youth Drum, and the head dancers are Quinn Meawasige and Aiyana Nahwegahbow.

This event is free to attend and open to everyone.
