Ella Dubreuil, a Grade 10 student at École secondaire Notre-Dame-du-Sault in Sault Ste. Marie, stands out for her singing talent. Having participated in the first round of the Lion's SuperSTARS Vocal Competition, presented by Café Héritage, she was selected to advance to the finals in Sudbury on May 14. As one of the finalists, Ella will be able to take part in a professional singing workshop and will be eligible for one of the grand prizes in the senior category (13-19 years of age).

Since this competition was launched during the pandemic, participants had to submit their performance of a song in a video. For this submission, Ella had chosen the song Tourner la page by Zaho. She has decided to sing an English song and a French song during the finals in Sudbury to demonstrate her pride in being Francophone.

“My passion for singing began when I was four or five years old when I accompanied my sisters to their choir practices. I was also able to benefit from the advice of their teacher. Afterwards, I started to sing psalms in church. Parishioners often told me that I had a beautiful voice and that I should sing more often. It was then that I became a little more serious and joined musical groups and took part in competitions,” Dubreuil said.

"When I was very young, I dreamed of becoming a singer, but afterwards, I often believed that this dream would never come true. However, by qualifying for the Lions SuperSTARS finals, this former dream was restored. I admire the Christian singer Lauren Daigle and one day I would like to follow in her footsteps,” she said.

This École Notre-Dame-du-Sault student enjoys keeping busy, learning new things and is motivated by the opportunity to improve and acquire new skills. Very artistic, she likes to play the piano, sing, dance, paint, draw, sew, embroider, cook and write. Ella takes pleasure in teaching her little cousins and a few other children that she babysits the beauty of music. In addition to singing to put these children to sleep, she likes to join them in producing karaoke songs for fun.
