The Latino Arts Centre Advancing Sociocultural Awareness (La Casa) and the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library have joined forces to celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (50 East St.) until Nov. 2.
The Latin American tradition honours loved ones who have passed away and includes vibrant colours, altars, food, and memories "representing the belief that death is part of life’s journey," says a news release issued by La Casa.
An offering table (ofrenda) is on display at the Library where visitors can learn more about this cultural celebration.
On Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m., special guests Tiare and Constanza Huertas will make a presentation on the significance of Dia de los Muertos followed by activities suitable for all ages. The event is free to attend.
