'Kickass' country gospel at the Downbeat tonight

Jon Rae and the River aren't your average country gospel band. Then again, Jon Rae isn't your average individual.

His bio speaks for itself, um well, maybe it doesn't. Here it is for your entertainment anyway:

"Jon Rae is gold. A dollar bill falls between each breath. Jon-Rae grew up in Kelowna soon to move to Vancouver where his eyes told many hearts to thrive within wisdom. He was lonesome and started the river, a project cast across Canada. His home is now in Toronto where each and every whole hearted christian / ex christian has drawn his name into there exhuberant lives."

Maybe that doesn't tell you everything you need to know, so we will fill in the important details. Jon Rae and the River is a 7-piece alt-country gospel band. They are cool guys, lotsa fun to watch and are playing at the Downbeat Lounge on Thursday, July 14th beginning at 11:00 pm.
