August 5, 2015, Sault Ste. Marie: Canadian original Jann Arden, iconic theatrical company Soulpepper Theater and This Hour Has 22 Minutes star Shaun Majumder appear in the spotlight in Sault Ste. Marie when the Algoma Fall Festival presents Entertainment on Fire; a month of crisp October nights dedicated to authors, the visual arts and great music.

Jann Arden will kick off the season on October 1 at the Community Theater Centre while Shaun Majumder will appear in the final show on October 30.

“Opening and closing the Festival with these two brilliant Canadian performers is a signal to our community that the Festival is growing and we are broadening our range and expanding the scope of our presentations” says festival president Donna Hilsinger. “And by continuing to offer our Celtic and Group of Seven themed weekends we are building on the success of past seasons. I like to tell people, come to any show, you’ll have an unforgettable experience!”

A new partnership with Soulpepper Theater brings the presentation of Albert Schultz’s Frankly, Sinatra, where master storyteller and Sinatra fanatic Albert Schultz weaves together an evening of words and music.

Albert, an award-winning actor and founding artistic director of Soulpepper Theatre also appears in this season’s Novel Dinner.

Booklovers will revel in dining with some of their favourite authors on October 23.

Albert will join television host Valerie Pringle, award-winning novelist Joseph Boyden, journalist and best-selling author Linden MacIntyre, award-winning author, actor and playwright

Ann-Marie MacDonald and award-winning poet and spoken word artist Mustafa Ahmed as they discuss their writing, the creative process and their lives over a sumptuous three course meal.

The Group of Seven in Algoma returns with the Northern Ontario premiere of White Pine Pictures Painted Land: In Search of the Group of Seven, a documentary film and exhibition where visitors experience an immersive journey into the landscape which inspired Canada’s Group of Seven.

Musical guest artists take centre stage for the return of Celtic Colours in Algoma with Cape Breton Island’s own Mary-Jane Lamond and Wendy MacIsaac who captivate audiences with their haunting Gaelic vocals and the finest of traditional fiddling.

Award-winning country singer Lisa Brokop pays tribute and interprets the classics in The Patsy Cline Project while Jane Bunnett and Maqueque blend hardcore Cuban music with folkloric rhythms and jazz, in a dynamic, must-see performance.

Tickets go on sale August 10 online and at the Community Theatre Box Office in the Station Mall.
