On a Sudbury Saturday night, Music and Film In Motion (MFM) celebrated northern Ontario talent during the Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA). Nominated work included that from Corbeil, North Bay, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Sudbury, Perry Sound, and Kiosk, as well as Sault Ste. Marie and Goulais River.
Of the local nominees, Jackson Reed and his release The November Gales took home the award for Best Album. He was also nominated in the Best Video by a Northern Ontario Musical Act category, but was defeated by another Sault artist. Kalle Mattson won for his Avalanche video. Mattson was also nominated for Best Songwriter and Best Album.
Atom Egoyan's Remember, which was filmed in Sault Ste. Marie and stars Christopher Plummer, won for Best Feature Film.
