Jefferson Airplane's Grace Slick at Wentworth Galleries in Boston

Famed singer presents collection of original paintings

BOSTON — Wentworth Gallery, one of the nation's leading fine art retailers, is proud to present an art exhibit and sale by artist and famed Jefferson Airplane singer and songwriter, Grace Slick.

A symbol of the psychedelic culture of the turbulent sixties, Grace Slick will sell and showcase her original paintings of rock and roll legends and expertly rendered Alice in Wonderland drawings along with several brand new releases.

She will make two special appearances at the Wentworth Galleries on Saturday, February 17th, in Burlington and on Sunday, February 18th, in Chestnut Hill.

Both appearances are open to the public and free of charge.

Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane, who recorded some of the most noted classic rock songs of all time — including "White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" — epitomized the San Francisco music scene of the mid-to-late-sixties, and in 1996 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Over the last 17 years, Slick has dedicated all of her energy to her artwork and amassed an impressive collection of paintings, limited editions, and drawings.

Her portraits of friends including Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Pete Townshend reflect her inner circle and the times in which she commanded the stage.

The lasting impression and influence that Grace and her band mates have had on popular culture is still evident today with the recent tribute to the band by Virgin America, who debuted its first aircraft at San Francisco International Airport and appropriately named it Jefferson Airplane.

Grace led a special "champagne christening" in October of this year along with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mayor Gavin Newsom, and Virgin America CEO Fred Reid.
