What do you get when three young talented artist share a studio space? You get art. An opening exhibition featuring Sherie McKay/Pat Gladu/Stephen Alexander will take place at Loplop Lounge & Gallery on November 3rd beginning at 7pm.

Sherie McKay

Sherie McKay (Gladu) is a native of the Sault area, growing up on St. Joseph Island. With a natural tendency toward the visual arts, Sherie pursued her interest in photography at Ryerson in Toronto, and went further to complete her BFA at White Mountain Academy of the Arts in Elliot Lake. With over thirty solo and group

exhibitions under her belt since 1998, Sherie has shown across Northern Ontario, as well as in Toronto.

Sherie feels contemporary artists face many unique demands. We are expected to reconcile our own creative impulses with the expectations of the audience, the art world, and society at large. As an individual Sherie prefers to examine, rather than enforce, typical ideals and expectations.

Pat Gladu

Pat Gladu has been involved in the arts for over 6 years now, and has displayed his work in the Sault as a local artist for the past 2 years. Pat works in a variety of media ranging from oil and acrylic, to wood sculpture and digital art. His style is influenced by the abstraction of science and biological imagery. Pat earned his Bachelor in Fine Arts at the White Mountain Academy of the Arts in Elliot Lake, and has since gone on to develop a professional studio practice with fellow artist, and wife, Sherie McKay.

Pat is an active member in the community and recognizes all those who have assisted him in his creative endeavors, as well as those who have offered him the opportunity to advance and develop as a local artist.

Stephen Alexander

A physical exploration of what I see in the layers on the canvas and a reaction to the new forms that come from this. similar to the changing clouds on a cool summers day, the forms change and a narrative is set in motion between each new experience. Based on the individual’s memory a new narrative is experienced each time the painting is explored. It is a fun process for the painter and the viewer. Post modernism all the way.
Graduated from Carleton University with a bachelor in architecture. Last known work was the creation of Loplops Gallery & Lounge (using this process).

got art? I’d say...yes.
