GALLERY: Volunteers lend a helping hand at barbecue fundraiser

Hosted by Helping Hands, the event included food, balloon animals, and a yard sale at the Wellington Street West depot on Saturday

Volunteers with Helping Hands Sault Ste. Marie welcomed dozens to their west-end depot on Saturday for their annual barbecue and yard sale fundraiser.

In addition to hot dogs and burgers, attendees were treated to balloon animals and face painting, as well as the opportunity to browse from a selection of affordable clothing and other household items.

Helping Hands is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing these items, among other basic goods and needs, to the community.

"The organization plays a crucial role in supporting newcomers, Indigenous people, low-income families, and individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges, with the help of over 100 volunteers," the organization said in a recent news release.

Funds raised on Saturday will go towards supporting the organization's community programs and essential services.
