NEWS RELEASE
ALGOMA REPERTORY THEATRE
*************************
After a wildly successful run of Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding in March, the team at Algoma Repertory Theatre (ART) has cooked up two more dinner theatre shows for Sault Ste. Marie. Auditions will be held soon for both The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)[Revised][Again] and Steel Magnolias.

Have you ever wanted to see 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, all at once? Well, the time has come, and it happens all in 97 minutes! This fall, ART will mount, “The funniest show you are likely to see in your entire lifetime,” as per The Montreal Gazette. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)[Revised][Again] will be performed as dinner theatre at Quattro Hotel and Conference Centre, Nov. 8 to 11.

Three madcap men in tights weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, histories, and tragedies in a wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter. An irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)[Revised][Again] was inspired by charismatic comics, Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield, who had honed their pass-the-hat act at Renaissance fairs and premiered their preposterous masterwork at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1987. It quickly became a worldwide phenomenon, earning the title of London’s longest-running comedy after a decade at the Criterion Theatre.

Then, in the new year, ART will be mounting the hilarious and heartwarming Steel Magnolias. Another dinner theatre performance at Quattro, it hits the stage Feb. 7 to 10. This powerful play, made popular by the famous movie, is set in a beauty parlour.

The show tells the story of six Southern Louisiana women, the bond that they share, and how they deal with life’s trials, tribulations and tragedies. With a good mix of humour and heart, this classic piece will give an opportunity to showcase the incredible talent of the women in our theatre community.
