Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect to release new album, announce eastern Canada tour

Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect will be celebrating the release of their new album, Hi’s and Lo’s, with a show at the Tech Theatre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. on June 29. The album, a collection of songs written and rehearsed on the road and at home over the past couple of years, was recorded this January at Mad River Records in Duntroon, Ont. with Collingwood engineer Craig Smith.

Says band leader/songwriter Frank Deresti about the process: “The fire was going, the snow was falling, and in this beautiful setting we got to work and created what we hope you will find is a beautiful record.”

The band has been very active in recent years, touring and building a fan base in support of their previous albums, This Time (2012) and Frank Deresti and the Lake Effect (2014), which won the Northern Ontario Music and Film Award for Best Album and was nominated for a Toronto Independent Music Award.

With a sound described as ‘folk-pop awesomeness’ (Amanda Putz, CBC), they have steadily been building a reputation as a show-to-see. Currently consisting of Sault musicians Frank Deresti, Jay Case, Chris Johns and Josh Norling as well as Austin, Texas-based keyboardist Jay Stiles, the band will be hitting the road this July in support of their most recent release, with several shows booked around Ontario and in the Maritime provinces.

Details for the June 29 show:
Doors at 7 p.m.
Show at 7:30 p.m.
Opening sets by All Us Others and Jackson Reed

Tickets $20 - available at the Tech Box Office, Shabby Motley, Outspoken Brewing, Algoma Conservatory of Music, Case’s Music, Thomas Walls’ Music, Dish, and the Rad Zone.
