With blueberry season now upon us, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the summer berries with the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site’s annual Blueberry Binge

The social will be held on the front lawn at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site this Thursday through Saturday. Tickets must be reserved and purchased ahead of time by calling 705-759-5443.

Tickets for the social are $12 each. There will also be breakfast available that includes blueberry pancakes with local maple syrup and sausages. Tickets for the pancake breakfast are $10 per adult and $8 per child.

“The event is going to be under our historic tent rooftop on the front lawn. We’ll be serving northern Ontario blueberry treats. We’ll also have Elliott’s Ice Cream to go along with the desserts,” said Kathy Fisher, curator at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site. “People can come and relax and enjoy our special annual treats.”

The treats include blueberry scones, vanilla ice cream with blueberry sauce, blueberry crumble squares, along with beverages.

“It’s exciting because we’ve been closed for so long. It’ll be nice to have people on the front lawn again. It’s a smaller event because of the restrictions but we’re still happy to be able to do this,” Fisher said.

The site asks that people wear masks and COVID-19 screening will be done upon arrival.
