There are only three weekends left to enjoy a Sault Ste. Marie entertainment landmark.

A little more than 11 years after officially opening for business, Foggy Notions will close its doors for good on Saturday, March 29.

Current owner, Pat Casey, cited the popularity of bars in Sault Michigan as one of the causes for Foggy's decline in patronage.

He also maintains that there's not enough local talent to fill the bar's entertainment schedule.

"The bands that do play are great," he said. "But there's just not enough to keep the people entertained."

Casey took over operations from Foggy Notions' founder Jon Ferguson just over a year ago.

Ferguson declined to comment about the bar's closure, simply stating that he was disappointed.

He expressed no interest stepping back into bar-owner shoes, but did say he would lend a helping hand to anyone willing to give it a go.

This Friday and Saturday marks the final weekend for the Inner City Surfers at Foggy Notions.

"This is a HUGE loss for me, and a huge loss for many others," wrote band member Mikey Hawdon on the 705 Music Scene message board. "That is the place where I've had my best memories playing in a band, and my best memories hanging out with my friends."

"Its going to be a lot of fun I'm sure, but very bitter sweet," said Hawdon about the final gig. "I'm SO sad about this, and I know I'm going to be completely bummed on Saturday night, knowing that it's the last time I'll ever play at Foggy Notions."

The Inner City Surfers have played Foggy Notions on a regular basis since the band's formation in 1999.

The final Foggy Notions entertainment roster also includes:

St. Patrick's Day Party - Monday, March 17

Sikamikanico - Friday, March 21

Tripod the Dog - Friday, March 28

Driving Dave Home - Saturday, March 29 (the final night)

The closure of Foggy Notions marks the end of an era indeed.

But as one 705 Music Scene commenter states: "You never know what the future will bring for that infamous Queen St. corner!"
