Double shot of country coming to the Machine Shop

Gord Bamford in November and Brett Kissel in February bring their country tunes to the Canal District

Live music fans in the Sault are in for a shot and a chaser of country music with two shows coming to the Machine Shop in the Canal District.

First up is Gord Bamford, who brings his Canadian Dirt Tour to town on Nov. 8.

The most awarded artist in Canadian country music, Bamford has received 26 Canadian Country Music Association Awards and multiple Juno Award nominations, according to a news release from the Canal District.

With over 85 million streams and 5 billion audience impressions on the radio globally, he remains the only two-time winner of the CMA Global Country Artist award.

In 2022, Breakfast Beer achieved gold status, added to his 10 hit singles in Canada, including the No. 1 hits When Your Lips Are So Close and Dive Bar.

Bamford released his 10th studio album, Diamonds In A Whiskey Glass, in 2021, followed by the Diamonds In A Whiskey Glass ‘Deluxe Diamond Edition’ in 2022, where it sat as a top seller in Canada for three weeks.

Bamford was also named the inaugural host of Anthem Entertainment’s first-of- its-kind audio/visual music-focused broadcast and podcast series Real Country Livin’ in partnership with SiriusXM.

He will be playing at The Machine Shop at 83 Huron St. on Nov. 8 at 7 pm. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased online or at the Station Mall Community Box office, or on site at the Canal District in the Gelato Mill or The Outfitters.

Next up is Brett Kissel, who will be in town Feb. 7.

It all Started With A Song 10 years ago, and ever since, Kissel has had an extraordinary rise to stardom in the Canadian country music scene.

With three Platinum and 10 Gold singles, two Gold-certified albums, and 16 Top-10 radio hits, he has become one of the country’s most celebrated artists.

"Having toured with legends such as Garth Brooks and Brad Paisley, and completing record breaking runs across the country, Kissel has planted himself as one of Canada’s most beloved entertainers," a Canal District news release says.

He has also become well known for his genre-defying collaborations, which have led to some iconic duets featuring Grammy winners Charley Pride, Dave Mustaine, Nelly, and iconic R&B group, 98 Degrees.

Earlier this year, Kissel released South Album, the first part of a four-installment multi-album package titled The Compass Project. The second instalment, East Album, is available now, with West and North albums to follow in 2023.

Kissel performs at the Machine Shop at 83 Huron St. on Feb. 7, 2024 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 before tax and fees, and are available online as well as at the Station Mall Community Box office.
