Crowd gathers downtown, sees woman shoot three arrows at once (6 photos)

Members of the Sault's South Asian community organized a special screening of India's biggest-ever movie blockbuster on the same day it premiered on 9,000 screens worldwide

If ever you find yourself surrounded by thugs and all you have is a bow and some arrows and there are so many thugs that you have to shoot them really, really quickly, here's what you need to do:

  1. Grab a fistful of arrows from your quiver
  2. Rotate your fist as you 'load' the arrows onto your bow
  3. Fire all the arrows simultaneously with your release hand thumb down, palm out

SooToday knows this because the unusual quick-draw archery technique is used by some of most badass heroines in the biggest action-movie blockbusters.

Zoe Saldana used the rarely seen method as Neytiri in James Cameron's 2009 Avatar, the first motion picture in history to gross over $2 billion.

Over the past weekend, Telugu-speaking actress Anushka Shetty used it in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, the most expensive and successful movie ever made in India, a country that now makes twice as many films as the United States.

Members of the Sault's South Asian community organized a special screening of India's biggest-ever movie blockbuster on the same day it premiered on 9,000 screens worldwide.

Local organizers were Ananth Karnik Sulse, Ramgopal Akondi, Suresh Arvapalli and Vinay Yarlagadda.

About 100 tickets were sold for $25 each, enough to break even on the Saturday-morning rental at the Galaxy Cineplex in Station Mall, Yarlagadda told SooToday.

Encouraged by their initial success, the group is now considering bringing other Indian films to the Sault.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is a sequel to the historical epic Baahubali: The Beginning,  co-written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli.

The trade journal Variety reported that Baahubali 2 is "in the process of smashing box office records for an Indian film," with weekend box office estimated US$81.2 million.

That placed Baahubali 2 third in the world, behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 and The Fate of the Furious.

The Indian film even beat out the Dave Eggers/Tom Hanks/Emma Watson techno-thriller The Circle, which was released the same day.

One well-known Indian film director, Ram Gopal Varma, tweeted: “Like world was divided into B.C. and A.D. (before death of Christ and after) Indian cinema is going to be B.B. and A.B. (before Baahubali and after).”

"Calling Baahubali 2 just a storm is insulting it, Varma wrote in another tweet. "It’s a typhoon having intercourse with a volcano to produce lots of baby earthquakes.”

Baahubali 2 is the first Indian film screened in 4K HD format.

Hundreds of Indian theatres are reported to have upgraded to the new technology specifically for this blockbuster film.

Earlier this year, the original posters released for Baahubali 2: The Conclusion contained a design error that provoked global mirth.
