Comedy kings JibJab and "Weird Al" Yankovic break new ground with video parody of American Idol winner

"Do I Creep You Out" video available exclusively online at JibJab.com and MSN Video

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA - JibJab, a leading digital comedy network, and "Weird Al" Yankovic, the long-reigning king of music parody, have released an online-only video parodying American Idol winner Taylor Hicks' song, "Do I Make You Proud."

The parody, entitled "Do I Creep You Out," is from Weird Al's latest best-selling album Straight Outta Lynwood, and the video features a forlorn stalker (played in classic JibJab style by Weird Al) chasing the woman of his dreams.

Do I Make You Proud

The video can be seen for free on both JibJab.com and MSNVideo.com.

A collaborative effort, JibJab was responsible for creating the animation while Weird Al provided the lyrics and music.

The partnership is an example of how artists are leveraging the power of the Internet to promote and distribute next generation entertainment.

With the massive reach of the MSN Video network and JibJab.com, the results of the JibJab-Weird Al partnership are available for free to a worldwide audience at the click of a mouse.

The collaboration was also initiated in true Internet-age fashion – they teamed up after the JibJab brothers, Gregg and Evan Spiridellis, sent Al an email via his Web site expressing a desire to work together.

"We are honored to have had the opportunity to work with comedic great Weird Al," said Gregg and Evan Spiridellis, co-founders of JibJab.

"His body of work has defined the field of musical satire and parody for decades and we had an incredible time working together," said the Spiridellis brothers.

"We also admire the incredible job he has done leveraging the Internet to build a one-on-one relationship with his fan base," they said.

"I've always been a great fan of JibJab's comedic sensibility, and it's been a real pleasure working with them," said "Weird Al" Yankovic.

"JibJab is changing the paradigm for the way multimedia content is distributed and it's very exciting for me to be a part of that," Weird Al said.

"Do I Creep You Out" is the third of five animated shorts appearing exclusively on MSN Video.

In October 2005, MSN inked a deal with JibJab to co-distribute its next five animations on MSN Video.

"JibJab is an innovator in this new breed of creative production studios," said Rob Bennett, general manager of entertainment and video services for MSN.

"Together, MSN Video and JibJab.com have delivered over 24 million showings of JibJab movies and we are proud to be the exclusive distributor of its consistently fun and entertaining viral videos," Bennett said.

This project comes on the heels of JibJab's launch of the Great Sketch Experiment, a sketch comedy contest in which JibJab connected six up-and-coming comedy troupes with legendary comedy film director John Landis to create sketches that were voted on by the public.

About JibJab Media

JibJab is a digital comedy network founded by brothers Gregg and Evan Spiridellis in 1999.

The studio's election parodies "This Land" and "Good to be in DC!" were seen more than 80 million times during the 2004 election, turning JibJab into an overnight, household brand, and leading Peter Jennings to name the Brothers "People of the Year".

JibJab has grown considerably since the election.

Today, the company is comprised of the best and the brightest artists, technologists and business people, working hard to change the way comedy is created, produced and distributed – signifying a true media revolution beyond which they first dreamed about in their Brooklyn garage.
