Candy cannon! (10 photos)

For those with a sweet tooth, the Fall Rendezvous feature was an added bonus

As part of the 2016 Culture Days programming, the annual Fall Rendezvous this past weekend at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site offered visitors a look at what life was like in the 1800s.

Events and activities included 1812-1867 historical encampments, British soldier demonstrations, Voyageurs and Coureur de Bois, hands-on activities, food and refreshments, scavenger hunts, heritage textile demonstrations, candle and basket making, and military and cannon demonstrations.

Specifically for those with a sweet tooth, the fun also featured the popular candy cannon.

The Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site includes the restored Old Stone House.

Completed in 1814, the house is Canada’s oldest heritage home north-west of Toronto.

Through to Dec. 9, 2016, the front room of the Old Stone House will feature 1867 - Rebellion and Confederation, an exhibit commemorating significant milestones, turning points, and key personalities involved in the development of Canada as a Nation.
