NEWS RELEASE

MUSICAL COMEDY GUILD

*************************
The Musical Comedy Guild (MCG) is proud to announce that tickets are over 60 percent sold for its fall production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins.

The Sault Ste. Marie premiere production will run from November 25 to 29, 2015 at the Kiwanas Community Theatre Centre.

Tickets are available at the Box Office in the Station Mall or online at www.kctc.ca .

In mid-September MCG launched the Help Mary Poppins Take Flight fundraising effort to help offset some of the special effects which at the time were estimated at $10,000 Canadian.

Due to the declining dollar, the actual cost came in at $11,000.

MCG is almost half way there having raised $4,600 due to the generosity of various businesses and members of our community!

It is not too late to assist in the fundraising efforts!

Donors making a $100 donation (Parrot Heads) will receive a charitable donation tax receipt for the full amount and be recognized in the lobby for the run of performances and in the program.

Those that donate $250 (Chimney Sweep Angels) will receive 2 tickets to the Friday, November 27 performance as well as 2 tickets the Pre-Show Gala taking place at Algoma’s Water Tower Inn.

They will receive a charitable donation tax receipt for $200 and be recognized in the lobby for the run of performances and in the program.

If you want to help make Mary Poppins fly, please contact Thomas Brandstetter by calling 705-257-9490 or via email at [email protected].

Exclusive Front Row Tickets for each performance will go on sale Tuesday, November 2nd at 10:45 am for $50 plus applicable box office fees with proceeds going towards the United Way of Sault Ste. Marie’s Annual Giving Campaign.

MCG partnered with the United Way during the Rotaryfest Parade this July with a Mary Poppins inspired float.

The theme for the parade was Great Books and the float came first in the Human Powered category.

You can catch the cast of Mary Poppins at the Friday, November 6th Soo Greyhounds Game as they perform the National Anthem.  There will also be ticket giveaways throughout the game.

Mary Poppins is proudly sponsored by Soo Mill, Brookfield, Quality Cleaners & Tailors, SK Group and Days Inn & Suites.  Media Sponsors are The Sault Star, sootoday.com and Oldies 93.

Students looking to obtain volunteer hours for assisting with the production backstage may also contact Thomas Brandstetter.
