The Sault Blues Society will host Campbell and Johnston at Soo Blaster (345 Queen St. E.) on Thursday, June 1. Backing the Halifax blues rock duo will be the Sault’s own Lindsay Pugh on bass, Cliff Alloy on drums and Jeff Holmes on keys.
“Christine Campbell and Blake Johnston have been building a name for themselves, entertaining audiences with their soulful tone, 60s and 70s rock style guitar riffs and bewitching vocal harmonies,” says a news release issued by the Sault Blues Society. The pair has opened for a number of big artists, including Burton Cummings, Steve Earle and Bob Seger.
They released their self-titled album in 2021, earning them an East Coast Music Award for Best Blues Album, and a Maple Blue award nomination.
Advanced tickets are $25 each and may be purchased at Case’s Music, Long and McQuade, the Rad Zone, the Community Centre Box Office in the Station Mall, Sessions Cannabis, Stone’s Office Supply and Soo Blaster. Tickets at the door are $30.
Doors open for this Campbell and Johnston performance at 6:30 p.m. The evening with kick off with a set at 7 p.m. from local openers, Smokehouse.
