Annual Easter egg hunt was hoppin’ downtown (20 photos)

Registration booked up quickly as the event made its long-awaited return

Volunteers and staff with the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site got in the Easter spirit as they welcomed dozens of local families to take part in a variety of holiday-themed events.

Participants began the egg hunt at the Ermatinger site and ended at the Entomica Insectarium inside the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. The event featured a variety of scavenger hunts, crafts, treats, and kid-friendly bug exhibits.

Local farms also provided some of their animals for the children to interact with.

Kathy Fisher, the national historic site’s curator, is thrilled to see families get out of the house and enjoy the Easter weekend.

“It’s just nice to be back open,” Fisher says. “We’ve missed holding these types of events over the last several years. It’s great to welcome everyone back.”
