Join mezzo­soprano Reilly Nelson and pianist Michael Shannon for a special evening of song. Reilly and Michael will present operatic favourites, jazz standards, and musical theatre hits.

This performance will take place Thursday, August 11 at the TECH theatre (130 Wellington Street East, Sault Ste. Marie) starting at 7 p.m. A licensed reception will follow.

$25 tickets go on sale Monday June 20 and are available at the TECH box office or at Case's Music located at 636 Queen Street East.

About Reilly

Reilly attended Eastman School of Music where she received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. A year later she completed her Masters Of Music in Vocal Performance at Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

Currently Reilly is a second year Doctoral candidate and Graduate Assistant voice instructor.

This past year Reilly was a finalist and award winner in the Kurt Weill Foundation’s Lotte Lenya Competition. At CCM she performed Hansel in Hansel and Gretel.

Reilly looks forward to work-shopping the role of Mrs. VanBuren in Ricky Ian Gordon’s new opera Intimate Apparel this fall in collaboration with Cincinnati Opera, CCM, and The Metropolitan Opera.

The mezzo­soprano was a vocal fellow at the prestigious Tanglewood Music Center in summers 2013 and 2014, performing Les nuits d'été, Op. 7 and Folk Songs by Bernard Rands.

About Michael

London, Ontario native Michael Shannon, a recent graduate of the Canadian Opera Company’ s Ensemble Studio, is now a COC music staff member. This upcoming 2016/17 season he joins the music staff for The Magic Flute, Tosca, as well as a recital with critically acclaimed American tenor, Issachah Savage.

Michael began his eclectic musical interests at age three studying piano, with further studies in violin, viola, and voice. He has played for numerous operas studied voice at McGill University and spent three summers at Opera NUOVA a nd at the Brevard Music Center.

Michael is a proud alum of the Merola Opera Program at the San Francisco Opera, where he was répétiteur and continuo player for their 2013 production of The Marriage of Figaro.
