About the artists

High in demand, percussionist/caller/stepdancer Jean-François Berthiaume is recognized as one of the most original and entertaining callers in Québec.

Jean-Francois has dedicated more than 20 years learning, researching and living the folk music and dance of Québec.

He also performs and records with numerous Québecois traditional music groups and has toured all over North America, Scotland and Malaysia.

Jean-Francois has taught and called at the AlgomaTrad Family Camp on St. Joseph Island as well and will be offering dance workshops at area schools while in the Algoma Region, including CASS April 1.

Louis-Simon Lemiuex is one of the most remarkable multi-instrumentalists (guitar, harmonica, foot percussion) and traditional fiddlers from Québec.

Louis-Simon’s energy and enthusiasm for the music of Québec, Ireland and Scotland has been evident since the age of 3 years when he first starting playing harmonica.

He has recorded 3 CD’s with his father Daniel, a renowned Québecois fiddler and has toured Europe (the first time at the age of 10!) and the US, and recorded with several well-known traditional groups from Québec.

Louis-Simon will also be performing at area schools while in the Algoma Region.
