SooToday received the following letter to the editor from reader RW Porter in response to David Helwig's article, 'Snow consultant wants city to scrap ‘two-foot’ driveway policy,' published March 17.
I understand the financial problems of plowing everyone's driveway and the difficulties of shovelling heavy snow and ice.
Maybe the city should look at Winnipeg, MB. (I believe this is where I saw a similar story). They have solved the issue by installing a second blade to the side of their trucks. It is designed specifically for clearing driveways as the plow truck clears the street.
Seems like a win-win to me. Cost-effective, and people do not have to find help for a difficult task.
