Liane holds a JD from the University of Windsor and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Guelph. She was called to the Bar in 2013.
Liane is committed to representing individuals who have suffered serious personal injuries and to families who have suffered the loss of a loved one. Her practice concentrates on personal injury law, including accident benefits, motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice, occupiers’ liability, product liability and wrongful death cases.
Liane chose to practice personal injury law because of the satisfaction that comes from helping people when they encounter some of the darkest times in their lives. She truly believes that the work Oatley Vigmond does as a personal injury law firm helps people rebuild and redefine their futures.
When Liane is not practising law, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
-Recipient of the Torkin Manes Cohen and Arbus Award; presented to an upper year student distinguished by combined academic achievement and service to the community.
-Recipient of the Charles J. Clark Scholarship; presented to an upper year student who has maintained academic excellence and demonstrated involvement in community and volunteer activities.
PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT
Liane is the co-author of the article “The Latest Word from FSCO and Judges on Relevant Facebook Production Issues.” This paper was presented at the Law Society of Upper Canada seminar, “The Twelve-Minute Accident Benefit Insurance Litigator” in Toronto in 2012.
She also co-edited The Oatley McLeish Guide to the Scheduling of Trials and Other Matters in Ontario Courthouses. This project was presented at the Law Society of Upper Canada seminar, “The Oatley McLeish Guide to Motor Vehicle Litigation” in Toronto, in 2013.
Liane volunteered with the Community Legal Aid clinic where she gained valuable litigation experience in the areas of Criminal Law, Landlord and Tenant disputes and Small Claims Court matters. In addition, she was a member of the Social Orientation Committee and competed in various mooting competitions.
Liane is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Advocates’ Society.
