Katherine Anderson specializes in the manipulation and restoration of a critical structure in the body called fascia. A thin layer of fascia envelopes every muscle, nerve, tendon in the body. Fascia, remarkably, has the tensile strength of 2,000 pounds per square inch. When fascia – or connective tissue – experiences trauma or becomes restricted, the body can no longer function in balance. Trigger points can develop as can chronic tightness in particular muscles or areas of the body. Trauma or restriction can come from having experienced an accident or a fall, but it could also result from poor posture.
Katherine’s highly trained hands can seek out these restrictions and through gentle pressure, she can reach deep fascial layers, encouraging release and pain relief.
Katherine’s passion is restoring balance and calm to the body. Her elite skill set and wide-ranging background in several body work techniques allow her to see not only the potential source(s) of pain, but also the bigger picture in terms of long-term recovery.
Katherine also has a special interest in pediatrics as early intervention can prevent chronic conditions later on.
Katherine practices both in her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, as well as the Greater Toronto Area. In addition to owning and operating her own private clinic, BodyVive Integrative Therapies, Katherine is continuously pursuing continuing education courses in her field. She is also an experienced and well-respected instructor and course leader with the Osteopathic College of Ontario.
Katherine is a registered Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, Structural Integrationist, and a Registered Massage Therapist. She is also a certified Trigenics Practitioner.
