Last week, Algoma Public Health announced online appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations.
And then earlier today, the Ontario Ministry of Health announced its own appointment booking system.
Click here, the province told us.
Two different web links. Two different booking systems.
So which system are we supposed to use?
APH's? The province's? Both?
SooToday reached out to Algoma Public Health to ease our virological discombobulation.
"At this time, anyone using the provincial portal to book an appointment, who has an Algoma postal code, will be directed to APH's website to complete their booking," Christian Luukkonen, APH supervisor of corporate services, informed us.
"Instructions to book appointments for COVID-19 immunization are specific to each of the multiple clinic sites in Algoma," Luukkonen said.
"Algoma residents should follow the instructions for booking for the specific clinic site they wish to attend."
"These appointment booking systems were put in place in advance of the launch of the provincial system, in order to support the needs of local Algoma clinics and residents."
"As we learn more about the functionality of the provincial system, APH will work with Algoma partners to transition to the province's booking system, where appropriate," Luukkonen said.
Some health units were reporting problems today with people being unable to arrange appointments on the new provincial system.
Provincial officials said more than 63,000 people had booked vaccine appointments by early this afternoon.
