Seven new COVID cases confirmed by APH

Algoma Public Health is reporting seven new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Among the new cases are six in the Sault Ste. Marie area and one in Central and East Algoma.

Tested on Jan. 6, case 122 falls under the exposure category of close contact, meaning the individual was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case 123, tested on Jan. 9, also falls under the close contact exposure category.

Case 124, who was tested on Jan. 5 is in the unknown exposure category, meaning the individual did not travel internationally recently or have any close contact with a known confirmed case.

Case 125, tested on Jan. 6, is also in the unknown exposure category, as is case 126, who was tested on Jan. 5.

Cases 127 and 128 were both tested on Jan. 10 and are in the close contact exposure category.

All seven individuals are currently self-isolating.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in the region to 56. There is also one active case in the region that is a non-Algoma resident who is temporarily in the region.
