Ontario Northland buses will continue to operate for essential travel during the current province-wide COVID-19 lockdown, a notice issued to customers states.

"If you have purchased a ticket for travel between now and Jan. 25 and have decided not to travel, we will gladly refund your ticket and waive the cancellation fees," the company said.

Passengers are reminded to bring their own food and beverages, as many businesses are not open during the lockdown.

Ontario Northland has implemented a number of health and safety measures, including:
    •    All passengers will be required to wear a non-medical mask or face covering at all times. Children under the age of two and people with difficulty breathing unrelated to COVID-19 should not use face coverings or non-medical masks.
    •    Passengers will be screened prior to boarding which consists of speaking with an Ontario Northland employee to answer a questionnaire. During this process, we ask all passengers to dress according to weather as boarding wait time can be up to 10 minutes outdoors.
    •    Motor coaches and rail passenger cars have enhanced cleaning protocols after each use and an anti-microbial spray has been applied to all motor coaches and passenger coaches.
    •    Fixed passenger capacities and limited amount of seats available per bus and passenger coach ensures physical distancing.
