Algoma Family Services will be reopening for in-person services starting on Monday after closing its' doors to the public in March due to COVID-19.
"We recognize the last four and a half months have been challenging for many children, youth, adults, and families," Board President Pam Ficociello and CEO Ali Juma, say in a press release statement sent out today.
"While our offices were closed in March, we continued to provide many of our services virtually, either by phone or through video conferencing. We acknowledge this form of service was not either available or comfortable for many, and we are pleased to resume our in-person services."
AFS has put COVID-19 measures in place, including screening procedures and the mandatory use of face coverings when in the building, barring health conditions that state otherwise. Hand sanitizer will also be available.
Waiting and meeting room areas have been rearranged and there will be a limit on the number of people allowed in a space at one time.
Staff will maintain a six-foot distance and plexiglass partitions will be used in rooms where this is not possible.
In-person services will be by appointment only; clients are asked to call the main office number (705) 945-5050 to book an appointment. Virtual services will continue. Clients can expect to receive a blended model of service that will involve both in-person and virtual services where possible.
