Four new cases of COVID-19 confirmed by APH

Four new cases of COVID-19 in Central and East Algoma have been reported by Algoma Public Health (APH).

In a notice issued by APH, the health unit states that all four individuals were tested on March 13 and are currently self-isolating.

Cases 205, 206, and 207 fall under the close contact exposure category, while case 208 is in the unknown exposure category.

"Through contact tracing, Algoma Public Health notifies all close contacts directly," the APH notice states. "If you are not contacted by Algoma Public Health you are not considered a close contact."

APH also notes that a previously reported case of COVID-19 – case 204 announced yesterday  – "no longer meets case definition, and is no longer considered a confirmed case of COVID-19."

There are currently 10 active cases of COVID-19 in the Algoma region, three of which are in non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the area.

There are two COVID-related hospitalizations reported in the region.

Regions within the Algoma District with COVID-19 cases reported in the past 14 days include Central and East Algoma, Elliot Lake and area, and Sault Ste. Marie and area.
