The Chippewa County Health Department announced late Wednesday afternoon that JKL Bahweting school will remain closed for 14 days.

The announcement comes after the school was intially closed when an individual from the school was quarentined due to illness.

"There was an individual quarantined, based upon symptoms, by Sault Tribe Health Center who did not meet the CDC’s case definition and therefore, will not be included in Chippewa County”s daily statistics," CCHD medical director Joseph M. Garlinghouse, M.D. said in a prepared statement.

The health department said the 14-day closure was the best course of action.

In a release, the health department said the decision was made "in an abundance of caution and based on its Return to School plan."
