After months of being closed to the public due to COVID-19, the Civic Centre will be reopen to the pubic as of Monday.

But only with limited services.

“We have had to find new and innovative ways to deliver as many municipal services as possible during this time,” City CAO Malcolm White said in a press release issued today, explaining that the city's main priority during this time is the safety of the community and city employees while still being able to maintain services that people count on.

Civic Centre visitors will notice a number of changes, specifically in regards to access points in the building. To protect staff, visitors are not allowed to access individual offices without making an appointment in advance. All interactions with city staff will take place in the lobby level or the Central Collections office.

Plexiglas barriers and floor decals have been installed to assist with physical distancing and to protect visitors and employees. People entering the building will go through increased screening measures and are asked to use the hand sanitizer provided.

As the July 6 tax installment gets closer, those who prefer to make a payment in person at the Central Collections office are welcome to do so. Taxpayers may also use a non-contact payment method. More details on those can be found here.

Anyone with questions is asked to call 705-759-5290.

The Civic Centre is open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
