WildFireSat: Canada’s Groundbreaking Wildfire Monitoring Mission

Wildfire management is entering a new era with WildFireSat, Canada’s first operational satellite mission dedicated to tracking and monitoring wildfires. Set to launch in 2029, WildFireSat will deliver comprehensive situational awareness to wildfire managers and decision-makers in near-real-time, and support smoke and air quality forecast services.
This general interest seminar will address the science, technologies, the critical role of Canadian fire managers in its development, and the mission’s homegrown roots in the Sault.
