Shipping Supervisor

We are currently hiring a Shipping Supervisor for our Sault Ste Marie, Ontario location to work in the Shipping division.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Co-ordinate, plan, schedule, and direct the shipping or receiving of building materials. Ensure paperwork compliance in accordance with company operating procedures.
• Provide the picking notes to the picking & staging team to allow for the preparation and execution of an order. Communicate with sales-reps regarding delivery concerns, damage, pick-ups …
• Work closely with the customer service team to resolve shipping-related issues and provide exceptional service to our customers.
• Monitor and manage shipping budgets to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising service quality.
• Execute shipping strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Revise schedule as required due to rush orders, equipment availability and delivery promises. Answer queries with customers and staff.
• Checks loading of truck with respect to weight, placing of load, wrapping, blocking & fencing. Direct the activities of the shipping crew with emphasis on correct work methods, safety rules, and satisfactory work performance. Ensures competent staff are operating machinery, working at heights, etc.
• Communicate all fleet deficiencies, damage reports, and major and minor non-compliances with the Mechanic to ensure safe working order of all equipment
• Prepares personnel work schedules, check labor reports, oversees all aspects of employee relations within the Shipping Department.
Required Qualifications
• Experience using the Biztrack system, Microsoft Office, Geotab & Journey Planner – considered an asset.
• Proficient in using shipping and logistics software and tools.
• Thorough understanding of Transport/Ministry of Transportation regulations for Commerical Shipping
• Experience in the lumber and/or building supply industry - considered an asset.
• Proven ability to direct work of others.
• Superior customer service skills.
• Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role with a proven track record of successfully managing shipping operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
