ARCH Hospice is seeking Casual Registered Nurses
General Accountability:
As a member of an inter-professional team, the Registered Nurse provides leadership and directs nursing care of residents of ARCH Hospice according to established policies and procedures including: assessing and anticipating the total physical, emotional, spiritual and psychosocial needs of the residents; planning, documenting and implementing care plans and making recommendations for changes when necessary.
At ARCH, Registered Nurses provide leadership in hospice palliative care and are a positive role model for staff, volunteers, guests, family members, health care professionals and the community.
Qualifications & Skills:
The successful candidate requires strong interpersonal skills, good communication, leadership skills and the ability to work well with all kinds of people.
1. Current licensure with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing.
2. A strong dedication to the vision, mission and values of ARCH.
3. Commitment to and knowledgeable of hospice philosophy of care.
4. Ability to interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner.
5. Demonstrated experience in pain and symptom management.
6. LEAP training or commitment to undertake LEAP training.
7. Certified in Hospice Palliative Care Nursing (Canada) (CHPCN) or willingness to pursue CHPCN(C) certification with the Canadian Nurses Association.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Comfort discussing death and dying and ability to work with resident/family living with and dying from advanced illness.
10. Strong coping skills, self-awareness and commitment to personal self-care.
11. Strong client focus.
12. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and taking constructive action to improve quality and safety.
13. Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
14. Commitment to life-long learning by participating in ongoing education, self-reflective practice and maintaining a strong commitment to professional practice and personal growth.
15. Ability to cook basic meals.
16. Openness to total model of care and broad scope of practice – personal care, cooking, cleaning – and strong commitment to hospice as a home model.
17. Demonstrated leadership Strong leadership skills.
18. Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
19. Ability to both give and take direction.
20. Highly developed problem solving, critical thinking and conflict management skills.
21. Current CPR and commitment to renewal.
